One of the destinations we were most intrigued about was Malaysian Borneo. Not only for its lush rainforest and hiking activities but for the history of its native tribes. The Headhunters The headhunting and display of the trophies was a cgommon practice up until Borneo was governed by the British in 1845. From this moment on, the Christian religion was spread over this side of the island and headhunting was banned. Stopover in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur was our base between the mainland of Southeast Asia and the islands of Borneo and the Philippines. We decided to give ourselves a treat here after staying in low budget hostels for one month. We booked a room for three nights in the Regalia, a popular place for exchange students famous for its infinity pool with view of the skyline. The pool itself with the view was amazing. Vietnam – Busy Cities, Islands and amazing Caves
After our Odyssey to Vietnam we finally made it to Hanoi. Arriving on a Saturday gave us right away the experience of the crazy city. We left the hostel and were right away in the busy streets trying to make our way between thousands of people, cars and scooters towards the bar area. Once we reached this area we rewarded ourselves with a typical Pho soup dinner and a 25 cent beer. Cat Ba Island The next day we got up early to see the city … [Read more...] about Vietnam – Busy Cities, Islands and amazing Caves
